Final Draft
The purpose of a comprehensive plan is to enable government officials and citizens to effectively manage development growth and change while balancing it with the community’s natural, cultural, social, economic, and capital resources. In late 2020, the City of Georgetown Planning Commission began the process of developing a new comprehensive plan to guide the City’s development and public investment over the next 10 to 20 years.

Asleep at the Wheel
Part II – The role of the Planning Commission (visa-vi Municipal Comprehensive Planning)
From the outset of authoring this multipart series of articles, I stated that my intent was not to be overtly critical of our City’s Local Government. That withstanding, my narratives are meant to be thought provoking and a reflective wake-up call, not only for the planning commissioners but our city council at large (both past and present).
