2040 Comprehensive Plan Final Working Draft- This is the Final Working Draft of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan that will go before the Planning Commission on February 25th 2025. This posting marks the required 30 day Public Notice Period. Please send all comments, questions and concerns to the Planning Department via email to Pgaytan@georgetownsc.gov.

Our Planning Commissioners voted on June 25th to give the citizens 60 days to submit suggestions to be considered for the Comprehensive Plan. That’s not much time, but a group of attendees in the meeting accepted the challenge. We need many more people to help. When brainstorming our work ahead, we realized that the citizens should be at the core of the decisions of our city’s future. So, we hope you will join Core ’24 by coming to our first meeting to learn what you personally can contribute to Georgetown’s Comprehensive Plan.

CITY Planning Board Meeting June 25th -Last ...

CITY Planning Board Meeting to present, discuss and listen to public comment regarding the resolution to recommend the adoption of the City of Georgetown 2040 Comprehensive Plan: June 25, 2024 at 6pm. Please come to this meeting to hear why many citizens are concerned and opposed to the current proposed plan. It is vital that the City get this right. This document outlines the future for our City.

May 28th - City Planning Commission to Vote on Comprehensive Plan - 2040

The new proposed 2040 Comprehensive Plan for The City of Georgetown is coming up for a vote by The Planning Commission.  Going forward, this will be the guide for The City Council and The Planning Commission.  

The crux of the plan calls for relaxed zoning and higher density throughout the city. This along with the plan’s emphasis on a tourism based economy puts us on track to be the next Myrtle Beach. 

The Planning Commision meeting will be held on May 28th at 6:00pm at the Municipal Court House to vote to adopt this new plan, please join us if you can.
