If it is built it will be called The Wharf and will be in the land area adjacent to the parking lot at the Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex at the south end of the Maryville Bridge.
On Tuesday night, the Georgetown Planning Commission approved a request to annex and rezone a tract of land near the boat landing to Master Planned Residential.
The annexation and the rezoning now has to be given a “yes” vote twice by Georgetown City Council. First reading is expected to take place April 18 with second reading likely on May 16.
Once approved by council, the developers will have six months to begin the work and two years to complete the construction. If that does not happen, the Planning Commission could vote to reverse the zoning.
Georgetown Planner Peter Gaytan told the commission the plans that have been submitted call for the building of a townhouse development neighborhood with “raised beach homes” on 19.4 acres.
He said there will be 121 raised town homes in 23 clusters. The homes will be on pilings because the area is in a flood zone.
Most of the homes will be three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
Gaytan said the price of the homes will be between $350,000 to $440,000.
