Parcel one of the Crown Pointe development

Eighteen years after it was first introduced to the Georgetown County Planning Commission, Crown Pointe is now expected to become a reality.
Crown Pointe is a mixed-used planned development located along both sides of Highway 51 extending east to Highway 701 from Pringle Ferry north to David Ray Road.
It contains 1,716 acres. In 2010 it was approved for 3,244 residential units as well as commercial space.
Through the years, various zoning changes took place in the Crown Pointe area, but no construction took place.
At one time, the plans included moving Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital to the corner of Highway 701 and Wedgefield Road as part of the new development.
Those plans were also scrapped with the development failed to happen.

Trying Again
With the recent paving of the once dirt Brick Chimney Road – and phase two of Brick Chimney Road connecting Highway 51 with Highway 701 expected to begin soon – the stage is being set for Crown Pointe development to start in the near future.
This Thursday, the Planning Commission will hear from Thomas and Co. Engineering. They will present plans for parcel one of Crown Pointe. The tract they will be presenting is 205 acres. The land is adjacent to Pringles Ferry Road to the south, Highway 701 to the east, and Browns Ferry Road to the west.
The plan for this land is for the construction of 249 single family detached units and 120 townhouse (attached) units.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 5:30 PM in Georgetown County Council Chambers.
