Georgetown City Council expected to approve sewer service for the new Winyah Fishing Village

Georgetown City Council vote this week on the acquisition of property on Church Street so sewer services can be provided to Winyah Fishing Village – the new development being built at the southern end of the L.H. Siau bridges.
According to documents, if approved, the city will assume ownership of this new sewer easement and will become responsible for its sewer line operation and maintenance in perpetuity.
The development, when complete, will contain 18 single-family lodging units and a commercial space adjacent to the Motel 6.
These will be rental units, not permanent residences.
Winyah Fishing Village is owned by 711 Partners, LLC. The owners say they want the development to be used for more than just a place for anglers to stay. They hope to attract things such as wedding groups, sports events, golf groups, and more.
Each of the units will be about 650 square-feet in size. There are 33 parking spaces in the plans.
There will also be a fully functional 23,000-foot boardwalk and floating docks in the Pee Dee River.

The one commercial entity is expected to be a small convenience store.
In 2022, the Georgetown City Planning Commission voted 3-2 in favor of approving the plans.
The property was annexed into the city in 2017 and was rezoned from General Commercial to Planned Development.
According to documents submitted to the city, the purpose of the development is to “create a compact fishing village environment to allow the public to access the environmental resources and participate in the boating and fishing opportunities this area provides.”
Thursday’s Georgetown City Council meeting begins at 5:30 PM in the Municipal Court on Highmarket Street.
